Image cache

Container images that have been downloaded to the local cache.

The cache is status information from the local container runtime. Images appear here after they are pulled from a registry or built from a Containerfile/Dockerfile.

Image items are status and cannot be added or deleted.

A cached image may have multiple names or tags pointing at the same image ID.

Id

The container image's identifier.

The image ID identifies the downloaded image content in the local runtime cache.

Names

The names that the container image is referenced by.

Names include repository and tag references, such as docker.io/library/alpine:latest.

Size

The size that the container image takes up on disk.

Layers of the image may be shared with other container images.
